Andrew Sennett Newsletters

Newsletter - October 2008

During October Andrew and the crew of Team Sennett Racing took in the last meeting that was a double header for rounds 11 and 12 of the British National 600 Superstock Championship.

10th/11th/12th October Brands Hatch (Indy)
Welcome to the final newsletter for the 2008 Season.

October saw the final round of the National Superstock 600 take place at the Kent circuit of Brands Hatch. This was to be the 3rd visit of the year to the circuit following the April event that was snowed off and the re-run which took place in May.

This time the Indy circuit was to be used. This part of the circuit is only 1.20 miles long and is set in a natural amphitheatre and offers virtually all round viewing for spectators.

This weekend there was to be 61 entrants in Andrew’s class vying for 38 grid positions and by the very nature if the circuit competition was going to be fierce.

Team Sennett arrived at Brands Hatch during Thursday and set up ready for the action to start on Friday morning.
Andrew had in the past had good results here and was looking forward to the weekend.

The first session was held late morning and conditions were near perfect as Andrew took to the circuit.
He immediately clocked some very fast laps and very quickly made his way up the leaderboard and with a lap of 50.03 seconds took 3rd position after 6 laps and was looking comfortable.

It was 2 laps later that it all went wrong. Andrew touched a white line on the approach to the fast downhill turn that is called Graham Hill Bend and the back of the bike came round and threw him off.

That was the end of the session for Andrew and although he was relatively uninjured the R6 was not rideable.
After the track activities had finished Andrew and the Team had the opportunity to assess the damage caused to the Yamaha R6 and were shocked and dismayed to see the extent of the problems.

The bike was too badly damaged to enable repairs to be carried out in order to compete again this weekend and the decision was taken to return home.

Not the way the Team had envisaged ending what had been a very enjoyable season to date but at least Andrew was unhurt and although disappointed is now looking forward to next year.

The Team have no firm plans sorted yet but Andrew at 26 is now too old to compete in Junior 600 Superstock again.

The options available are limited but Andrew has expressed a strong interest in competing in the Supersport 600 Cup series which is also run alongside the British Superbikes.
Andrew and the Team would like to thank you all for your continued support and will keep you informed of developments as they happen.

Andrew would like to thank:
Ward Gethin, Mick Culey, Signtech, T.W Suiter, T M Browne & Steelemedia for their help.
