This website is dedicated to serving the legal needs of bikers
up and down the country. It is managed by Neil John of
Ward
Gethin Solicitors in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. Neil is the head of
the of the motorcycle law department at
Ward Gethin and offers
advice on personal injury, road traffic crime and general
litigation matters.
Neil is one of the founders of the BMF Biker Legal Line (BLL)
and the only remaining original member of its management
committee. In over eight years since BLL was launched on 19 May
2000, Neil has never missed a meeting.
Neil says "I've been a biker longer than I've been a solicitor.
Before I learned to ride, a guy I knew with a Fireblade told me
that there were two types of biker – ones who have fallen off
and those who have yet to fall off. It didn't put me off and I
passed my test before the laws changed in 1996. Apart from 8
weeks in 2006 (after an accident) I've always owned a bike
during the last 12 years." No prizes for working out Neil is in
the fallen off category.
"As bikers, we need to stick together and help each other
wherever possible. That's the main reason I came up with the
idea of BLL - to put something back into biking. I had a car
accident when I was 17 and was 24 before it settled. I realised
that there had to be a better way of dealing with claims. Some
claims do take a long time due to the severity of injuries or
the inability to return to work, but most can be resolved within
2 or 3 years."
So if the worst has happened, whether it's an accident, a
criminal offence on the road or a consumer dispute, call Neil
and get straight advice, one biker to another.
